US Justice Suspends Lawsuits Against Argentina in YPF Case

United States Justice has suspended all lawsuits related to the YPF expropriation case, favoring Argentina's position after the formal request made by the recently appointed Attorney General, Sebastián Amerio. The New York Court of Appeals ordered that no court advance with measures related to the case until the main issue in the appeal process promoted by the national state is determined. The Argentine motion had been presented by Amerio in his first hours as head of the Attorney General's Office, requesting to halt the progress of investigations and procedures regarding the execution of the sentence handed down against Argentina in 2023. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals of New York, which is analyzing the appeal filed by Argentina, accepted the motion and ordered to halt any procedural progress until it rules on the merits of the dispute. This court is key to the case, as it has the power to confirm, modify, or revoke the sentence that condemned Argentina to pay a millionaire sum for the expropriation of YPF.
